Army of India bar Nepaul to Lieut. H.F. Caley, 1st. Grenr. Bn. short hyphen, officially engraved. Major-General Henry Francis Caley, b. Doncaster, 1792, to India 1807, Lieut. 1814 and served against the Gurkhas in the Nepalese War of 1815. served in the Kumoan hills under Colonel Nichols at Almora and participated in the pursuit of a body of enemy troops across the Kotila at Jhulaghat. Served for a time in command of Nichol’s personal escort. Served at the seige and capture of Hathras in 1817 and the Third Mahratta War of 1817-19 and was present in the operations in the Saugor District, at the surrender of Dhamoni, seige and capture of mandala and the fall of the celebrated fortress of Asseerghur. Served with the 4th. N.I. in operations against the Bhils in 1824. Appointed to command of the regiment in 1842 and to Brigadier in 1854. Promoted Major General in 1856. Died in Rawalpindi 1866. minor edge bruise
