Description
Sierra Leone General Service Medal (EIIR), unnamed as issued, with matching miniature both mounted for wear as issued.
Instituted in 1965, by the newly independent Republic of Sierra Leone
A scarce campaign medal awarded to the personnel of the Small Detachment of British Armed Forces seconded to the Royal Sierra Leone Military Forces, a reward for the service in the Congo between 27th January 1952 and 28th February 1963, an unusual medal when in an instance where a Clasp had not been authorised for a campaign to the General Service Medal.
