1911 Coronation Medal, reverse Scottish Police, Police Constable Andrew Stenhouse.

 

Officially engraved: “PC A STENHOUSE”

 

The 1911 Coronation Medal awarded to members of the Scottish Police is significantly rarer than the earlier 1903 version, only 1465 were issued to the Police Forces.

 

Police Constable Andrew Stenhouse, was born circa 1858 in Fife, Scotland.

 

He would move to Edinburgh and lived on Torpichen Street for many years working as a Police Constable in the City of Edinburgh Police.

 

Shown on the 1891 and 1901 Scotland Census as a serving Police Constable at the same address.

 

Obituary in the Scotsman, 22nd January 1936:

 

“STENHOUSE – At 16 Leopold Place, Edinburgh, at the residence of his son in law, Robert P Turnbull, on the 21st January.
Andrew Stenhouse (aged 80), Late Edinburgh City Police. Funeral (private) to North Merchiston Cemetery on Friday 24th January at 2.30pm….”
