George Sydney Harding was born circa 1888 in Sandport, Hampshire.
Shown on the 1911 Census as a serving soldier with the 85th Battery Royal Field Artillery, Staff 11th Brigade stationed at St Thomas Mount, in Chennai, India.
Entered into the War on 7th November 1914.

 

After the war he was still serving and re-attested in the field on 24th January 1919 for further service, later being discharged following the campaign in Persia, due to the reduction of the establishment on 17th June 1922.

 

His service entry shows he had served since 21st November 1901, when he was about 13 years old.
