Description
Civilian Service Medal for Afghanistan, instituted 2011, an original issued example with very neatly erased naming.
A scarce modern medal, established on 6th April 2011 for service in Afghanistan since 19th November 2001 as a Civilian.
As of 28th February 2017, only about 2469 had been issued.
The medal has stringent qualifying criteria, notably those who were eligible for the Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan were not able to claim this medal as well.
The most recent of those qualified for the medal were for “Operation Pitting” “The largest humanitarian aid operation since the Berlin Airlift”, where following the contentious conclusion to the 20 years of the War in Afghanistan (2001-2021), the British and American Army finally vacated the country, which would lead to the hasty evacuation efforts of over 15,000 people being airlifted out of the country on more than 100 flights.
