Africa General Service Medal, EVII, bar Somaliland 1902-04, G. Douglas, Carpenter’s Crew, HMS Highflyer, Royal Navy.

 

George Douglas was born on 10th February 1882 in Plymouth, Devon. A Carpenter and Joiner by Trade, he enlsited as Carpenter’s Crew on HMS Vivid 2.

 

He served onboard HMS Highflyer as Carpenter’s Crew between 21st December 1902 and 2nd July 1903, earning this medal.
Promoted to Leading Carpenter’s Crew on 1st April 1907 onboard HMS Devonshire.

 

Joined the crew of HMS Carnarvon on 10th August 1912 serving on board until 3rd November 1917, after a month inbetween at Vivid II, he then served on HMS Cleopatra from 6th December 1917 until 24th February 1920, becoming Shipwright on 1st October 1918.

 

Earned his Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 24th November 1916.
Later discharged to his shore pension on 12th June 1922.
