The Arctic Star, awarded since 2013 to men who saw operational service north of the Arctic Circle.
This medal is a retrospective award announced in late 2012, and issued from 2013.
They must be claimed and the recipient had to have seen operational service during World War 2 north of the Arctic Circle. Most awards are made to the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy who served in the area, mostly on the dangerous Arctic Convoy duties.
