Description

Army Emergency Reserve Efficiency Medal, EIIR, 22664327 Sergeant E. W. Longstaffe, Royal Signals.

A scarce short lived award.

This unusual efficiency with scroll clasp reading “ARMY EMERGENCY RESERVE” was instituted during September 1953 in order to reward long service in the Army Supplementary Reserve since 1924, and service with the Army Emergency Reserve from 1948.

The issues only lasted about 14 years until 1967, when the medal was replaced by the Efficiency Medal, bar T. & A.V.R.
