Army Long Service and Good Conduct, VR, 1534 Pte. M. Deering, 7th Hussars.

 

Michael Deering was born during 1834 in St Marys, Dublin, he attested age 21 for the 7th Regiment of Hussars on 22nd October 1855.

 

Shortly after his enlistment the Indian Mutiny broke out and he was posted to the East Indies, fighting in the Mutiny and earning the Medal without bar, although they did not earn a campaign bar they took part in a number of actions.
Having served 12 years he re-engaged to complete 21 years, at the end of his service he had no mentioned in the defaulters book or tried for any misconduct, earning him 5 good conduct badges and this Long Service and Good Conduct medal.

 

Discharged at Edinburgh aged 42 on 15th November 1876, 12 of his 21 years service was abroad in the East Indies.
