Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, VR, 234 Trooper W. Newins, 1st Life Guards, officially impressed. With service papers.

 

William Newins was born during 1857 in Stone, Buckinghamshire, he first attested for service with the Royal Bucks King’s Own Regiment of Militia on 8th November 1854, before being discharged in order to attest with the 13th Light Dragoons on 21st December 1855, becoming a private in the 13th Hussars on 22nd April 1857.

 

He transferred to the 1st Life Guards on 26th September 1862 and served with them until his discharge on 21st December 1876 having served for 21 years.

 

He served a total of 20 years and 364 days being discharged at the end of his second period of engagement.
