Ashantee Medal, bar Coomassie, 1715 Pte D. Hogg, 42nd Highlanders, 1873-4.
Suspension slack and claw refitted, edge bruise about 5 o’clock.
David Hogg was born on 22nd September 1849 at North Leith, Scotland.
Attested for service on 15th October 1868 at the age of 19.
Served in the Third Anglo Ashanti War of 1873-4 with the regiment, later receiving his medal when stationed at Malta.
In his last 2 years of service he was a Regimental Policeman.
Discharged by purchase at Malta on 10th March 1877 and returned home to Lieth.
After retiring he got married to Jessie Henderson on 18th March 1879.
He died on 17th October 1914 living at 3 Gordon Street, South Leith.
