Description

British War and Victory Medal, 2nd Lieut P. Kirk, 1/8th Batttalion Notts and Derby Regiment, a Court Martialled Officer.

 

Percy Kirk was first gazetted from Officer Cadet to be 2nd Lieut with the Notts and Derby Regiment on 1st July 1918.

 

He was posted for service with 1/8th battalion Notts and Derby Regiment, the Sherwood Foresters.

 

On 25th July 1919, a court martial was held in Cologne, he was serving attached to the 6th Cyclist Battalion, when he was found guilty by Court Martial and dismissed from the service.
There is no surviving report but the reason given is ‘Miscellaneous 40’ which relates to “The prejudice of good order and military discipline.”

 

The London Gazette of 30th September 1919 reports him as dismissed from the service by sentence of General Court Martial, 9th August 1919.
