Also entitled to the WW1 Victory Medal. Good condition on original silk ribbons.
Richard Hornsby Green was born in Lambeth, London on 23rd March 1891.
Enlisted into the Queen’s on 29th June 1915, and was discharged on 16th December 1919, and awarded the Silver War Badge.
Served in World War 1 with the 1st/4th “Queen’s” Royal West Surrey Regiment.
During the war, the 1/4th Queen’s Royal West Surreys were part of the Volunteer Territorial Force, known as “The Muttons Lancers”.
The regiment was sent over to India was part of the Surrey Brigade in the Home Counties Division and spent most of the war there.
This meant they were nearby as the war was ending, when the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919 broke out shortly after peace was declared, the 1/4th Queens were deployed to take part in the war in the North West Frontier.
He later died many years later during January 1978 in Croydon, London.
