British War Medal, Territorial Force War Medal, Acting Sergeant Wilfred King, 1/6th and 2/6th Battalion Devonshire Regiment. 

 

BWM and TFWM both officially impressed: “1061 Pte W. King. Devon. R.”

 

Also entitled to the Victory Medal, due to his deployment to Mesopotamia (Iraq) circa 1916/17.

 

Wilfred served under the service number 1061 and later 265093 during World War 1.

 

He served throughout with the Devonshire Regiment, with the 1/6th Battalion and the 2/6th battalion.

 

After the war was over, he was disembodied on 12th December 1919.

 

The Territorial Force War Medal roll records that he held the rank of Acting Sergeant.

 

Both the 1/6 and 2/6 Devons set off for India early into the war landing there during November and December of 1914.

 

Following service in India the 2nd 6th was deployed to Mesopotamia, landing at Basra, Iraq on 14th September 1917 where they remained for the rest of the war as Lines of Communication troops.
