Description

China Medal 1900, bar Relief of Pekin, 5117 Private Henry Tenny, E Company, 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh Welch Fusiliers.

 

Entitlement confirmed on the medal roll for the 3rd China War, China Medal and Relief of Pekin Clasp, the notes reading: “Deceased”

 

Henry fought in the campaign to relieve the Legations at Pekin during the Boxer Rebellion, being part of the sole British Regiment to earn this rare honour.

 

He died on 13th August 1901, and is now buried in Hong Kong Cemetery in Happy Valley.

 

His fine tombstone reads: “Erected to the Memory of Private Henry Tenny E Co 2nd Bn R W Fus, Who died on 13th August 1901 aged 23 years.”
