William Alfred Collis Stone (1890-1977) was born during 1890 in Brixton, Surrey being baptised on 16th Feb 1890.
First entered into France on 24th December 1915.
Promoted numerous times from only 2nd Lieutenant on entry into the war earning both his decorations as Temporary Captain, Acting Major.
London Gazette 17th September 1917 announces his promotion from Temp Lt to Temp Captain.
London Gazette 26th September 1917 announces he relinquishes the rank of Acting Major which he held whilst commanding a Battalion between 20th and 27th June 1917.
After returning home from the war he married Alice Sophia Skerman in St Barnabas, Clapham Common on 8th September 1920.
