Egypt Medal, dated 1882, William Henry Helley, Boy 1st Class, HMS Inflexible. With copy service records.

 

Traces of brooch pin having been neatly removed from reverse.

 

Born on 23rd April 1865 in Devon, he attested for service at 16 years old on HMS Impregnable on 20th January 1881.

 

For his service in the Egypt war, he joined HMS Inflexible as a Boy 2nd Lass on 19th August 1882.

 

When he became of age he became an Ordinary Seaman and signed up for 10 years service on 23rd April 1883.

 

He remained on board until 6th November 1885, with a short 3 months on board HMS Cruizer from 21st August 1883 until 1st December 1883.

 

His service ended early however on 3rd September 1886 when he was invalided out of the service on board HMS Curfew.
