Emin Relief Expedition Star, 1887, silver hallmarked BHJ, Birmingham 1889, reverse scratched “NJR 1933”.

 

Exceptionally rare award by the Royal Geographical Society awarded to the personnel of the expedition to rescue Emin Pasha led by Henry Morton Stanley.

 

Only about 200 of these stars were ordered from Carrington & Co, being made by Barnet Henry Joseph & Co, Birmingham Jewellers, at least 175 of them were forwarded to the intended recipients & 9 were issued named to Chiefs.
