Crimea Medal, bar Mer D’Azoff, unnamed as issued. Very rarely seen unofficial French clasp.
On an old slightly frayed silk ribbon.
British Royal Navy sailors received the Azoff bar for service in the Sea of Azoff from 25th May to 22nd September 1856.
However for the French Sailors who saw similar service, they instead had to have their own clasps made, which vary in quality and style depending on the jeweller who made it, they typically read: “Mer D’Azoff” which translated to Sea of Azoff (Azov)
