Description

Ghuznee Medal, Storming of Ghuznee, 23rd July 1839, unnamed as issued, on Officer Style detachable ring suspension.

An unnamed example, typically issued unnamed to Indian Army officers and still remains in excellent condition for a Ghuznee, with only slight signs of contact marking and breast wear.

Has been fitted with a most attractive custom double ring suspension with swivelling bar. This style of mounting is popular with Officers in the period for early Victorian campaign medals.

As shown in the picture, it can be unscrewed so the disc can be freely removed as needed, providing a very functional and long lasting mechanism for wear, the ribbon bar also swivels nicely.

The inspiration seems to have come from the suspensions of the early Order of the Bath Breast Badges.
