The Canal Zone clasp was only instituted in 2003, about 50 years after it was earned for service in Egypt between 16th October 1951 and 19th October 1954.

According to a hand-written note with the medal, the recipient was apparently “William Richard Spencer” an “Ambulance Driver” at the time.
His service number would correspond to enlistment circa late 1950 to early 1951, just before the “Canal Zone” clasps were earned.
