General Service Medal, Iraq, GV coinage head, M-17044 Private William Aikman, Royal Army Service Corps, former 6th Battalion Highland Infantry in the First War.

 

Officially impressed: “M-17044 Pte. W. Aikman. R.A.S.C.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll.

 

Private Wililam Aikman, first saw service during World War 1 in France, with the 6th Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, as Number 20507.

 

He later transferred over to the R.A.S.C. with number M/56355 to finish out the war.

 

He was demobilised in 1919, but chose to Re-enlist with the R.A.S.C. for further service on 19th September 1919.

 

He was renumbered as M-17044 on enlistment.

 

Then being sent to Iraq for the Iraqi Revolt of 1919-1920.
