Medal roll confirms that he was present in the post war campaign in South East Asia with the 908 Port Operation Company Royal Engineers.
During the campaign in Java and Sumatra, the Army landed troops for the invasion, of importance was the Port at Belawan, the harbour in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia’ busiest seaport outside of Java. The Royal Engineers ran the Port Operation there.
