General Service Medal, GV, bar Southern Desert Iraq, 356550 LAC Andrew McLure Love, a Veteran who returned for WW2 and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer during 1941

 

Flight Lieutenant Andrew McLure Love, 1905-1977, was a Scotsman, originally born in Dundee, who grew up in Canada and upon returning to Scotland, joined the Royal Air Force where he became one of the few men to serve in the “Southern Desert Iraq” campaign during 1927-1928 earning this rare clasp to the General Service Medal.

 

Having seemingly retired from the service he re-enlisted for WW2 service in December 1939, only 2 years later, he was granted a commission from Temporary Flight Lieutenant to be a Pilot Officer.

 

Officially impressed: “356550 L.A.C. A.M. Love. R.A.F.”

 

Medal mounted for wear, storage toning but unworn condition.

 

With recipients original Certificate of Discharge, upon becoming Commissioned during 1941.

 

He was: “A real, hard working, conscientious and efficient NCO, thoroughly experienced in his trade. His character and general conduct is Very Good and all that could be desired.”

 


Mr Andrew McLure Love, was born on 18th March 1905 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland.
