India General Service Medal 1908, EDVII, bar North West Frontier 1908, 8308 Corporal John Barnett, 1st Bn Northumberland Fusiliers, later Sergeant in North Staffs through WW1.
Officially engraved in running script: “8308 Corpl J. Barnett 1st Bn N. Fusiliers”
According to his medal index card, following the NWF campaign in 1908, he was promoted to Sergeant.
During World War 1, he was made Acting Sergeant on 22nd August 1914.
Landed in France , serving throughout the war.
Served with the 1st Gn Battalion of the Prince of Wales’s North Staffordshire Regiment number 23595 as a Sergeant as well.
According to the medal rolls for WW1 many Northd Fusiliers transferred over to the North Staffs.
Discharged to the reserves Class Z on 27th March 1919.
