Description

India General Service Medal 1908, bar North West Frontier 1935, India General Service Medal 1935, bar North West Frontier 1936-36, 816186 Gunner Alec Jones, Royal Artillery.

Both confirmed on the roll and officially impressed: “816186 Gnr A. Jones. R.A.”

A scarce pair for consecutive campaigns, in unworn condition.

Alec Jones first attested for service with the Royal Artillery during 1930, he was discharged to the Army Reserve on 24th February 1938, but was brought back for service in WW2.
His book entry notes he served on Coastal Defence and Anti Aircraft duties.

After war war he joined the Z Army Reserve on 19th January 1946, he was finally fully discharged on reaching the age limit during 1956.

Likely entitled to WW2 Medals, such as a Defence Medal for Home Service, but as these earlier medals were never worn, they were presumably never claimed.
