Description

India General Service 1854, Bronze Issue, bar Burma 1885-7, named to Madras Transport Dept, converted to a menu holder and engraved on reverse, only back clasp effected.

Officially engraved in running script: “7/63 Bearer Bidigndy Lutchmadoo Transpt Dept Madras”

The medal has been in 1903 converted to a Menu Holder, this has been very carefully done, the medal still swivels the hinged mechanism only being attached to the back clasp, minimally effecting the medal.

The reverse of the menu holder section bears the maker’s hallmark “B N” and the reverse is neatly hand engraved to read: “Presented by Lieut: A. Bray, 6.7.03”

Should be Lieut A. Bray, of the “Leeds Engineers”, the 2nd (Leeds) Yorkshire Engineer Volunteer Corps.
