Description
India General Service Medal 1908, GV, bar Burma 1930-32, 6284285 Private Arthur Cartington, 1st Bn The Buffs, East Kent Regiment.
Officially impressed: “6284285 Private A. Carrington. The Buffs”
Arthur Carrington was born during 1909 and earned this medal for his service in Burma during 1930-32, he still seems to have been serving on the outbreak of World War 2, serving throughout the war until his discharge as Corporal on 25th September 1945.
For his World War 2 service he earned the 1939-45 Star, Defence & War Medals.
As he only got the 1939-45 star it would suggest he was deployed early in the war to France with the 2nd Buffs who took part in the Battle of Dunkirk being evacuated.
They were issued to him at Capstone Road in Bromley, Kent.
