India General Service Medal, bar Chin-Lushai 1889-90, 1457 Private Michael Mc Cue, 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, who died during the campaign.

Officially script engraved: “1457 Pte M. Mc. Mcue 1st Bn. K. O. Sco Bord” Very slight looseness to suspension post, otherwise an attractive near mint condition.

Entitlement confirmed on the medal roll, the remarks state he was “Deceased.”

500 Men from the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, made up the only British Regiment alongside a composite force of Bengal Artillery, Madras Sappers and Miners, Gurkhas and Madras Infantry to form 1859 troops as part of the Southern Column, commanded by Brigadier General W P Symons.

The column took part in a series of punitive raids on local Lushai and Chin villages which resulted in the submission of the tribes to British Forces.
