India General Service Medal, 1908, bar Waziristan 1919-21, 6077222 Private Wilfred Jones, Queen’s Regiment
Additionally entitled to the further Waziristan 1921-24 clasp, which his MIC notes was sent separately, likely never being attached to the medal.
Wifred Valentine Jones began his Military service during WW1, as Private 9591, Royal Fusiliers, entering into the “2B” Balkans Theatre to fight against the Turkish Army during the Gallipoli Campaign, arriving on 10th September 1915.
He then re-enlisted to join the Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment, number L/12716.
Wilfred Valentine Jones, was born circa 1897 in Birkenhead, Cheshire. He grew up in Ealing, Middlesex where his father Benjamin worked as a Blacksmith.
Before the war he worked as an Errand Boy at a Grocers, he would have just turned 18 by 1915 when he arrived in Gallipoli with the Royal Fusiliers.
Following his discharge circa 1924-5, he joined the National Union of Railwaymen, West Ealing Branch during 1926 working as a Wet Stone Grinder.
He died relatively young in Uxbridge, Middlesex during 1932.
