He is William Minter, born during 1842 in Rackheath, Norwich, Norfolk, he attested for service at the age of 18 on 20th March 1860 with the 1st 6th Foot, having worked as a Shoemaker.

By his medical discharge on 15th June 1880 he had served 20 years and 82 days, with 12 years overseas in the East Indies.

He had been promoted many times even up to Sergeant during 1874 but would always end up reduced to private, but from a stretch of good service from 1875 until his discharge in 1880, he was discharged as a Corporal.
