Iraq Medal, no bar, 25161568 Pte A.J. Stanbury, Princess of Wales Royal Regiment.

 

Official laser engraved naming: “25161568 PTE A J STANBURY PWRR”.

 

Medal is in unworn condition, ribbon display mounted, with original named card box of issue and paper medal packet including the warning “DO NOT clean with Brasso or any other Abrasive Cleaner”

 

The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, the PWRR, known as “The Tigers”, served 3 tours in Iraq during the conflict, a 7 month tour in 2004, a 2nd Tour in 2006 and finally a tour in 2009 where the battalion was split between Iraq and Afghanistan, the ones in Iraq took part in the final combat operation of the war.

 

Notably Private Johnson Beharry of the 1st PWRR earned his Victoria Cross for the 2004 Tour whilst deployed to Amarah, Basra.

 

The Regiment earned a significant number of gallantry awards including: 1 Victoria Cross, 2 Distinguished Service Orders (DSO), 2 Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (CGC), 1 Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), 10 Military Crosses (MC), and 17 Mentions in Despatches.
