Lieutenant Commander Raymond Clifford Southgate was born in Acton, Middlesex on 22nd September 1926.
He first passed out of Dartmouth College during Christmas 1947 being awarded the Music and History Prize, to be commissioned as a Midshipman (E) with seniority 1st April 1948.
He was promoted to A.S.L. (E) as of 1st January 1950.
His retirement was announced in the London Gazette 19th July 1977 as a Lieutenant Commander to join the retired list on 31st July 1977.
