Korea Medal officially impressed: “22350417 Pte R.C. Howard K.S.L.I.”

 

Service number corresponds with enlistment in late 1950 to early 1951.

Korean War

 

Not long after his enlistment, the KSLI were posted to Korea, arriving there on 13th May 1951.

 

They originally were stationed along the Imjin River before experience the bitter Korean Winter.

 

In October of 1951, they took part in “Operation Commando”, where alongside the 1st KOSB and 3rd Royal Australian Regiment, known as the “Battle of Kowang-San” or Battle of Hill 355.

During the battle the KSLI were successful in their capture of “Hill 277”.
