Description

Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, EIIR, bar Rhodesia and Nyasaland, a very rare issue, to Warrant Officer 1st Class Angelo Maurice Cole, who died from a gunshot wound to the head in Salisbury Rhodesia during 1965.

 

Officially engraved: “934 W. O. I Cole. A.M.”

 

Angelo Maurice Cole was born in Cape Town on 25th September 1916 during WW1.

 

Whilst working as a Clerk aged 23 in Cape Town, he married a 22 year old Netherlands Born Hairdresser, Sientje Pieterse on 22nd June 1940.

 

He was a long serving soldier with the Rhodesian Army, as the “Bush War” was getting underway which would lead to a 15 year conflict changing Rhodesia forever, he was admitted into Salisbury General Hospital during 1965.

 

He was suffering from a gun shot wound to the head, and died from inhalation of blood on 11th August 1965.
