Description
Scinde Medal, reverse Meeanee 1843, unnamed, fitted with straight “German Silver” bar suspension very similar to the China 1842 medal.
A rare medal with the reverse only reading “Meeanee 1843” for participation in the Battle of Miani (Meeanee) on 17th February 1843 where a force of only about 2800 men under Major General Charles Napier, comprised of various Bombay units of the Indian Army and the 22nd Cheshire Regiment, with a small cavalry force from the Poona Irregular Horse, fought against a large force of 30,000 men under Mir Talpur.
