Description

Meritorious Service Medal, GV, 61931 Sergeant Patrick McCarthy, 131st Company Machine Gun Corps, former Sergeant in the Connaught Rangers before transferring.

 

Also entitled to the British War and Victory Medal Pair.

 

First served as service number 5581, as a Sergeant in the Connaught Rangers before joining the 131st Company M.G.C.

 

M.S.M. announced in the London Gazette 8th March 1919, decorated for services rendered with the British Forces in Mesopotamia.

 

During the campaign in Mesopotamia from 1916-17 the 131st Company MGC was part of the 3rd Lahore Division, 7th Infantry Brigade, fighting alongside the 1st Connaught Rangers, 27th Punjabis, 91st Punjabis, 2/7th Gurkha and the 7th Brigade Supply and Transport Company.

 

They then joined the Egyptian Expeditionary Force during 1918 for the remainder of the war
