Military Medal, GV, with Second Award bar, Acting Lance Sergeant Arthur Hugh Wooller, 1st 9th Bn London Regiment.

 

Officially impressed: “391679 Pte A.H. Wooller. 1/9 Lond R.”

 

Arthur Hugh Wooller enlisted on 11th May 1915 with the London Regiment and was later discharged after the end of the war on 12th July 1818.

 

He was a local Londoner born during 1887, from New Eltham, upon the outbreak of war he enlisted with the 9th County of London Battalion, Queen Victoria’s Rifles as a Rifleman on 11th May 1915.

 

Awarded his first Military Medal for bravery in London Gazette 2nd November 1917, usually containing awards for the August 1917 Battle of Ypres, including Langemarck, Poelcapelle, Polygon Wood, Glencourse Wood, Steenbeck and Guillemont farm.
During February 1918 he transferred to the 34th Battalion London Regiment as Acting Lance Sergeant, number 880610.

 

With the 34th Battalion London Regiment he earned a second bar to his Military Medal, announced in the London Gazette on 20th August 1919.

 

He became a Postman in the London Postal Region, and earned an Imperial Service Medal for his service, announced in the Supplement to the London Gazette, 21st January 1947.
