A good number of “Honorary” awards of the Military Medal were awarded to non British Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen from Allied countries.
These medals were issued unnamed, only about 5688 were awarded, a tiny amount compared to the about 115,000 issued named to British forces, they were issued to the following countries:
Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, United States of America.
