Meritorious Service Medal, GV, Temporary Armament Sergeant Major Levi William Lawley, R.A.O.C.

 

Officially impressed: “T-303 T. AMT. S. MJR. L. W. LAWLEY. R.A.O.C.”

 

Levi William Lawley was born during April 1879 in Sheffield, Yorkshire to Levi and Alice Lawley.

 

He married Lily Maria Slack and had a son, Wilfred Lawley who was born in Yorkshire during 1903.

 

Disembarked during WW1 on 12th June 1915, being Mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette on 4th January 1917. Awarded this medal in the Supplement to the London Gazette 3rd June 1919.

 

In his retirement he moved to the Isle of Wight and during 1939 was a Civilian Armament Artificer, Royal Army Ordnance Department, he died there on 13th September 1957.
