Meritorious Service Medal, GV, P-344 Sergeant A.R. Young, Military Mounted Police, former 9th Lancers, a WW1 award for meritorious service.
Award announced in the London Gazette, 17th June 1918.
Also mentioned in despatches in the London Gazette, 29th May 1917.
Entered into France on 9th July 1915, served there until the end of the war, returned home on 11th November 1918.
Reached the rank of Acting Warrant Officer II Class.
A note with the medal states he had been with the army at least 10 years and had transferred to the MMP from the 9th Lancers on 5th April 1912, being promoted to Paid Lance Corporal on 5th August 1914.
