Natal Medal 1906, no bar, Seaman F. Roffey, Natal Naval Corps. A rare award to the small force of naval volunteers present in the rebellion.
The total number of medals awarded to this small corps was 203, 136 with the 1906 bar and only 67 without the bar.
F. Roffey was born in England around 1887, he first departed for Durban on the Avondale Castle on 13th July 1901 to work as a Miner at the young age of 15. He appears to have been travelling with 2 other miners calling Rabkin and Rosowitz.
