Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GV, 213665 Able Seaman Albert Victor Welsby, HMS Apollo, Royal Navy.

 

Albert Victor Welsby was born on 21st June 1895. in Toxteth Park, Liverpool. He then lived with his family in Salford, Manchester.

 

He first attested for service with the Navy on 22nd February 1901, as a 15 year old Boy 2nd Class on HMS Black Prince.

 

He saw continuous service all the way up to and past WW1.

 

His service during this period:

 

HMS Lord Nelson, 30th April 1914 – 15th February 1915.

 

HMS Prince of Wales, 16th Feb 1915 – 31st March 1915
HMS Swiftsure: 1st April 1915 – 26th May 1915
HMS Exmouth, 27th May 1915 – 31st August 1917
HMS Pembroke I, 1st Sept 1917 – 27th Sept 1917
HMS Hecla (Beagle), 28th Sept 1917 – 14th May 1918
HMS Apollo (””), 15th May 1918 – 31st October 1918. Awarded the LSGC during this time.
