Order of British India, OBI or O.B.I. Neck Badge in Gold and enamels, screw nut reverse, 1st Type Pre WW2 issue.

a 2nd Class Neck Badge in Gold, 1st Type, pre 1939 issue.

 

All gold production with dark blue centre with surround, no chipping to enamel, hard to photograph as the dome shape of the enamel is very reflective.

 

A rare and very limited order awarded at the time to exclusively Indian Officers, who back in 1837 when it was the East India Company’s Army.

 

The order was limited to only 100 recipients for the 1st and 2nd Class, making only 200 living recipients at one time.

 

Being inducted into the 2nd Class of the Order would grant the recipient the title of “Bahadur” meaning “Brave” an honorific title bestowed upon Indian Officers.
