Punjab Medal, 2 bars, Goojerat, Chilianwala, 1821 Private Charles Chard, 3rd The King’s Own Light Dragoons, noted for their excellent Charge into battle at Chilianwala on 13th January 1849.

 

Officially impressed: “C. Chard. 3rd Lt Dragns” Some contact marking and an edge bump.

 

Charles Chard was born circa 1829.

 

Shown on the 1851 World-wide Army Index confirming his name as Charles Chard, with service number 1821, being present with the 3rd Light Dragoons in Wazirabad, Punjab, now Pakistan.

 

He is then shown on the 1861 Index as Corporal Charles Chard, 18th Hussars shown with service number “1821/27”

 

His marriage in the Leeds Intelligencer, 12th June 1858:

 

“Leeds – On Sunday last, at the Parish Church, Corporal Charles Henry Chard, 18th Hussars, to Miss Mary Ann Brayshaw, both of this town.”
