Queen’s South Africa Medal, 3 bars, Cape Colony, Transvaal, Wittebergen, 4040 Corporal Arthur Clarke, South Staffordshire Regiment

 

Officially impressed naming, entitlement confirmed on the medal roll. After the issue of the medal, a further medal roll from late 1903 shows the issue of a loose bar “South Africa 1901” for further service.

 

Arthur Clarke, born during 1875 in Walsall, Staffordshire.

 

Attested for service aged 18, having been a Groom, on 14th November 1893. He had previously been serving as a member of 4th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment Militia.

 

He saw the following service:
