Queen’s South Africa, 2 bars, CC, OFS, 3553 Private John Fitzsimmons, 4th Volunteer Battalion, Kings Liverpool Regiment. 

 

Officially impressed: “3553 Pte J. Fitzsimmons. Liverpool. Regt.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll.

 

Additionally earned the 1902 clasp which was not issued until about October 1903.

 

Note the clasps are an officially riveted pair which has been slipped onto the ribbon, the ribbon is an original piece of silk that has been sewn together so that the bars stay on the ribbon.

 

During the Boer War the 3rd and 4th Militia Battalions aka the Royal Lancashire Militia (The Duke of Lancaster’s Own Rifles) were posted to South Africa in February 1900.
