Queen’s South Africa, 5 bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, 8073 Sapper L. Pryce, Electrical Engineers, R.E. later in the RAF.

 

Officially impressed: “8073 Sapr: L. Pryce. Elec: Engrs: R.E.”

 

Leslie Pryce was from Eltham Kent, and a 20 year old Electrical Engineer when he enlisted as a volunteer with the Electrical Engineer Royal Engineers at London on 17th January 1901.

 

He served overseas in South Africa during the Boer War from 25th March 1901 until 21st June 1902.

 

He returned for service aged 36 in WW1, joining the Royal Air Force on 14th May 1918, graded as a Pilot on 14th May 1918, then commissioned as was commissioned as a Flight Cadet Observer on 5th October 1918, becoming a 2nd Lieutenant Overseas Cadet from 15th March 1919.

 

He does not appear to have earned any WW1 medals during his service during 1918.
