Queen’s South Africa Medal no bar, Mr Patrick Doyle, Plumber, Imperial Military Railways, who died on service in South Africa on 27th July 1900.

Officially impressed: “Mr P. Doyle. Imp: Mil: Rly:”

Patrick Doyle was born in Wicklow, Ireland, during 1865 to Michael and Mary (Troy) Doyle, a Irish Roman Catholic Family.

He was a Plumber by trade, and married Catherine Molloy during 1892 in Dublin, Ireland.

The couple appear to have moved to South Africa circa 1897, where their son William Desmond Doyle was born in Bloemfontein on 14th November 1897.

During the Boer War, he was employed as a Plumber with the Imperial Military Railways, the medal roll then shows him as Deceased on 27th July 1900 of unknown causes.
