Queen’s South Africa impressed: “Pte C. Hinks. Kimberley Town Gd.”
BWM impressed: “Pte G.C. Hinks. Cullinans Hse”

 

The Kimberley Siege Account by David Biggins records him as “C.G. Hinks” serving during the siege at No III Section, C Company, Pickering’s Redoubt No 1.

 

George Clifford Hinks (matching the BWM) born during late 1874 in Sturminster, Dorset. He was a pensioner after working for many years in the De Beers Diamond Mines explaining his appearance at Kimberley during the siege and later died at the Roslin Hotel, New Church Street, Cape Town aged 67 on 11th November 1940.
